Will Life Sciences provide a boost to the UK economy
In July 2021, the Department of Health and Social Care published its Life Sciences Vision which set out the Government’s shared ambition to make the UK a Life Science Superpower, detailing a 10-year strategy.
This co development between government, life science companies, medical research charities and the NHS sets out a life science ecosystem, designed to effect patient outcomes and boost economic growth. In its pre-election business plan for life sciences, the Labour Party also added its commitment to the growth of this sector.
We are proud to now be involved in a second major life sciences development, the Westbrook Centre Cambridge, as we continue our work at RIBA Stage 5 of our landmark project, Tribeca, based in the Kings Cross area of London.
It is a privilege to be involved in a sector that most analysts see as a bright spot in an otherwise difficult economic landscape post Brexit and Covid and one where the outlook for growth throughout 2024 and beyond remains positive. Glenigan are currently forecasting growth of 14% in the health sector for 2024.
I have been banging on about interest rates since 2023 and this months’ cut will also hopefully herald the beginning of the long-awaited recovery in the construction sector and the wider UK economy.
