The safety of building occupants is of the utmost importance and a well-designed façade fire safety strategy plays a major part in reducing the risk of fire starting and spreading through a buildings’ external walls and it’s components.
We can help you to develop a facade design that is complaint and safe from the start, thus avoiding unnecessary delays at Gateway 2 and Gateway 3.
What we do
PRA have been working on HRB’s since the start of the company 27 years ago. Our experience is unparalleled especially in fire recladding schemes. We have now acted as the lead facade designers on over 100 HRB’s (across 45+ projects).
Fire engineering & façade design have always been closely related, but for several years the two disciplines have been provided separately by different consultants. PRA are glad to announce that we are offering our clients both services, effectively a “one-stop shop”.
Our experienced team are currently working with developers, contractors and architects to devise the fire safety strategy and incorporate this into the design. We are doing this in the development of the façade elements of many new build and remediation projects, including HRB’s.
We are delivering a service that is competence based, compliant and innovative; which covers the following areas:
- Developed façade designs for fire safety compliance starting from the very early stages of concept until the final “As-Built” drawings
- Fire Risk Appraisal of External Walls (FRAEW) according to the PAS 9980 methodology
- Preparation of fire engineering technical notes
- Compliance with “Approved Document B” and adherence to British standards
- Professional guidance with regards to any remedial works necessary from planning through to completion
- Preparation of Gateway 2 applications
- Design and Specification of the façade solution, including all detailed drawings, that will meet the necessary Building Regulations requirements
- Project monitoring of the façade contractors’ tender package and subsequent design output
- Onsite monitoring of the contractors’ work throughout the façade installation or replacement process
